The Crystal Quest ceramic filter replacement cartridge removes parasites, bacteria, sediment, asbestos, and bad tastes and odors. The ceramic filter cartridge should be cleaned with hot water and soap and a brush or scouring pad approximatelyl once a month. Replace after 30 cleanings (approximately 2.5 years).
