The Crystal Quest Thunder 1000C water filter combines reverse osmosis with ultra-filtration in one of the best home water purifiers on the market.
From fluoride to pharmaceutical pollutants, contaminants don’t stand a chance against the Thunder 1000C. By forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, the reverse osmosis process removes virtually all particles as small as 1/1000 of a micron. (For reference, a human hair is about 200 microns in diameter, and anything smaller than 40 microns is invisible to the human eye.) The Thunder 1000C also utilizes activated carbon as well as copper-zinc REDOX media to produce ultra-filtered, pure water.
Additionally, this state-of-the-art water filter comes with a mineralizer cartridge that restores healthy minerals to the water. Standard reverse osmosis systems remove trace minerals as well as contaminants, producing unnatural, unhealthy, acidic water. A regular habit of drinking water devoid of natural minerals (like distilled water) can rob the body of stored minerals. How the Crystal Quest Thunder 1000C Water Filter Works
Stage 1: A 1-micron solid carbon cartridge removes volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, industrial solvents, and other synthetic chemicals, as well as sediment, silt, sand, and dirt.
Stage 2: A 0.01-micron ultra-filtration membrane removes colloids, proteins, bacteria, viruses, parasites, protozoa, pyrogens, and other organic molecules and waste contaminants.
Stage 3: A 1-micron pre-filter pad removes suspended particles like sediment, rust, and dirt, as well as cysts like giardia and cryptosporidium.
Stage 4: Granulated activated carbon (GAC) made from coconut shells removes a wide range of organic contaminants, including 99.9% of chlorine and carcinogenic chlorine byproducts like trihalomethanes (THMs). GAC also removes benzene, pesticides, VOCs, PCBs, MTBEs, and hundreds of other chemical contaminants, as well as foul tastes and odors.
Stage 5: An ion exchange resin softens the water, removing heavy metals like lead, copper, and aluminum.
Stages 6 and 7: Two beds of KDF REDOX (oxidation-reduction) media made from copper and zinc electrochemically remove heavy metals, chlorine, algae, fungi, and hydrogen sulfide. The REDOX media also inhibits the growth of bacteria.
Stage 8: The water flows through another 1-micron filtration pad.
Stage 9: The Crystal Quest reverse osmosis membrane removes particles as small as 1/1000 of a micron, including inorganic contaminants and microorganisms.
Stage 10: The water flows through another 1-micron filtration pad to remove silt, cysts, rust, dirt, and other undissolved particles.
Stage 11: The water passes through another block of GAC.
Stage 12: The water passes through a final 1-micron filtration pad.
Finally, the Mineralizer Cartridge remineralizes the water with natural minerals including calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium.
